“You’re late.” He says. I open my mouth to answer but he doesn’t give me a chance. “Start setting the tables and go the the back and get the delivery of the day. Dan has been waiting for you.” I nod and do as I am told. I hurry to the back door and open it to see a tall man shaking fiercely against the piercing wind. His long blond curls lash wieldy around his face, framing it perfectly.
I notice I’m staring so I call out “Dan”. He raises his head and a smirk teases his lips.
“Bella, nice of you to show up.” His smile breaks loose and he approaches me holding my gaze firm. Only a guy like him has the ability of making me nervous. He keeps walking. He’s too close now, totally invading my personal space. He’s leaning in. Then, without warning he hands me a box full of kitchen supplies that I don’t know where it came from, and steps away. Baffled, I simply blink.
“Thanks.” I mumble, I feel my cheeks flaming hot. Embarrassed, I turn away and walk inside.
“See, ya’” he yells, I simply raise my hand as a response, I hustle out of view. I rest the box into the counter and start sorting the different ingredients; fridge, cupboard, counter, done.
My day passes by as slowly as always, with no more interesting events. I encounter the same customers as always, and they order the same mundane dishes. I’m desperate for it to be over when I spot the same man I saw earlier through the window. Confused, I give him a smouldering look and return to do my job, not giving it another moment's thought.
Finally, eight arrived and I’m ready to get out of there. I quickly pack my things and race for the door. “Night, Charlie!” I yell so he could hear me since he was cleaning the back storage room. The bell rings it’s chirping noise announcing my departure. My eyes take a moment to adjust to the dim light of the street lamps, and the first thing they focus on is him. What is he doing here?
"Umm, can I help you?” I yell, still making eye contact, challenging him. I raise my chin trying to appear taller. He doesn’t answer, or look away. “Look dude, I don’t know what you want but I have no money
