Impact
• All 23 patients reported improvements
• £ 40,500 cost savings in first year
Adoption of personalised foot-worn device Apos at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has been supported by patient engagement delivered by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, as part of the NHS MedTech Funding Mandate programme.
This provided insights into how non-surgical options can be embedded within existing orthotics services to improve pain, function and confidence for patients.
“ The pain was shocking with osteoarthritis in both knees, and I had to leave my job as a granite fitter.
“ After being fitted with Apos I can now help a little more around the house doing light chores at a slow pace. I must take my time as I still get pain but not as intense as it used to be.”
Wayne Booth, 56, of South Yorkshire- Apos user since early 2025
