them and therefore be robbed of some of our precious
biodiversity. Disconcertingly there is another threat
which has unveiled itself in recent years, which
could harm most, if not all, British species.
The Harlequin ladybird is an invasive creature from
Eastern Asia. It is a larger creature than British ones,
and can look more like what most people think of as
a conventional beetle. But as well as eating aphids,
they prey on other, smaller ladybirds.
Next month read Part 3 of our
article on these Pretty Killers.

We sold our first batch of cattle - 9 red poll steers.
We had to get these TB tested before leaving the
farm which is always very worrying. If they fail the
test you can’t sell any cattle for 60 days which can
put the farm under financial stress. I’m pleased to
say they passed.
We have also purchased our first
flock of laying hens, so if you are
passing by please pop in and grab
yourself some lovely free range fresh
eggs.
We weaned all the lambs from the
ewes and had a total of 162 lambs. If
you want to fill your freezer with JC
Lamb please visit our website www.
JCFarming.co.uk and place your order.
We booked our sheep into the Bucks
County Show (at the time of going to
print the event hadn’t taken place).
We will let you know how we got on
next month.
Thanks for reading ...
