The Chiltern Society is the only registered charity exclusively dedicated to conserving, celebrating and caring for the unique Chilterns landscape. With the support of 7,000 members and 500 volunteers, the charity has been working hard for over fifty years. Our projects include: • Maintenance of ancient woodlands and nature reserves • Improvement of thousands of miles of pathways for walkers and cyclists • Preservation of important local heritage sites • The creation of safe havens for wildlife populations • Campaigns to protect the area from damaging development Talk by Oliver Cox, The Chilterns: A very short introduction Oliver Cox, a Heritage Engagement Fellow at the University of Oxford will present this lecture which will explore the historical significance of The Chilterns and explore the importance of heritage for the region’s future.
