The junior cricket season at Wooburn came to an end with the annual
awards and BBQ which was attended by almost 150 parents, players
and friends. The club ran teams at U11, U13, U14, U15 and U17 in the
Bucks competitions as well as a team of Kwik cricketers who played
in tournaments including the Wooburn 6 aside competition. Results
were mixed with one of the highlights being the U15’s reaching the
semi finals of the Bucks Cup, unfortunately losing to a very strong
Chesham team. Following on from the installation of batting ends and
retractable netting last season the club continued its investment by
installing artificial bowling ends which should provide us with high
quality facilities for many years to come. The funding for these facilities
has been achieved by means of grants, sponsorship and also the
income generated since the refurbished pavilion was opened in 2011.
The Sunday morning café, which is open during our coaching
sessions, has grown in popularity once again with numerous parents
and players enjoying the bacon rolls, hot drinks and hospitality
which is a credit to the dedicated and ever welcoming ladies who
run this fantastic service. Our introduction to cricket course for
children in reception, years 1 and 2 was a phenomenal success both
on and off the pitch. Following a low key start in 2013 numbers
increased rapidly this year with over 40 youngsters enjoying
the Friday sessions with a great support from the parents who
enjoyed the pavilion bar facilities on what, in general, were lovely
summer evenings. For more information on coaching, club events
