“Mum had cancer for 4 or 5 years but when she died it still came as a shock. I had a lot of feelings and mixed emotions. I didn’t feel as though I could talk to anyone and I didn’t really want to. I came to Child Bereavement UK because I didn’t know how to cope on my own and I knew that I needed help. “Me and Mum did a lot of things together and were close. We didn’t really do a lot for Mother’s Day but I did make her a card. Now on Mother’s Day I normally go and visit her grave and sit there for a while. Initially Charlie received face to face support before joining the charity’s Young People’s Advisory Group, of which he is still a member. “Before being put in touch with Child Bereavement UK, I felt lost, helpless and very empty inside. At first it felt daunting, but I found the sessions helpful, quite relaxed and soon got more comfortable.
