Maybe you would like to become more confident in your current umpiring skills, or perhaps learn the basics of umpiring? Would you like to occasionally fill-in with umpiring at our club, or be more involved on a regular basis? Club cricket generally is suffering from a chronic lac k of umpires and various courses are currently available to overcome this. WNCC will be delighted to support anyone willing to give umpiring a go. The Stage 1 course is designed to provide an overview of the basic laws and how to apply them when officiating. It will also give attendees the confidence to stand in matches where there are no panel appointed umpires. This is appropriate for player-umpires as well as those who intend to umpire regularly. Our local County ACOs will be providing these courses and further details can be found here: https://www.ecb.co.uk/be-involved/officials/ find-a-course/Umpiring-courses Introductory courses are free, and if anyone would like to go on to a Stage 1 or 2 umpire course, the league pay for each club to send one candidate, and WNCC will pay for any further volunteers to do the same.
