MOLLY’S GENEROUS 100 TH
BIRTHDAY GIFT TO THE RNLI
Bourne End resident Edith (Molly) Smith passed the milestone of
her 100th birthday on the 10th January 2018.
As a way of marking the occasion Molly made a generous
donation of £175 to the RNLI, gratefully accepted by local South
Bucks & Thames Branch Chairman Michael Prager along with the
branch Media Officer and wife Linda.
Molly was born in 1918 and she tells the story that although
named Edith, her father took one look at her just after her birth
and decided she looked like a Molly (an actress of that time) and
the name stuck.
Molly lived for 34 years on the Channel Island of Sark where she saw the work of the lifeboats
up close and has been a supporter ever since.
A sprightly centenarian, Molly is a regular Bridge player. Her continued
support of the RNLI locally is much appreciated.
