Wye Valley Interact Club support the Philippines With all the news being about the dreadful weather and flooding it’s easy to forget the impossible conditions that still exist in the Philippines following the disaster there last year. The sixth form students who make up the Interact Club (young Rotary) decided before Christmas that some action was needed. A decision was taken to raise funds for a Shelter Box to support the disaster relief A Shelter Box is basically a box containing everything you need to keep up to 10 people alive when they have lost everything. There is a tent, cutlery, plates tools, bedding and much more. When the box is empty it is also used as a water purification tank providing safe drinking water where there is none. To raise this money a range of fund raising activities took place including the Interactors supporting Bourne End and Cookham Rotary Club with their around the houses collecting with Father Christmas (did you see him this year?). The end result was sufficient funds to buy a box and in the picture you can see Interact President India handing over their cheque to Rotary Club President Maureen Campbell in the presence of the Interact Club members and acting Head Teacher Andrea Jacobson.
