how you have done it! Tell them, and get them to
come to the Gym with you, it is always easier to
train with someone than without. No-one finds it
easy to go to the Gym on a cold wet night, but if
you have already arranged to meet someone there,
you will go, and having gone, you will feel better
for it.
At the end of your first month at the Gym, talk
to your instructor and ask them to modify your
training programme as not only will your body
become used to a routine, your progress will slow
down as well and your mind will become bored! A
new programme will stimulate you and the change
in routine will ensure that you continue to make
progress.
We all tend to lead busy lives, but try and put aside
the time to train 3 times a week, if possible, with a
rest day in between each session to give your body
time to recuperate as this will lead to optimum
results.
Training will be even more successful if
accompanied by a good nutritional programme,
this does not mean you have to diet but, with
good advice from your Instructor, you can change
your eating habits in a way that will enhance your
training and aid muscle recovery to enable you to
train harder and more frequently as you progress
through the year.
All the nutritional requirements you need
can be found in normal everyday foods, but
for those who wish, these can be enhanced
through protein supplements. These are
purely an addition to a normal diet, and not a
replacement. They are not for the sole use of
the “body builder”, they can aid all forms of
training.
As your year at the Gym progresses, you will
see many changes in physique, stamina and
your attitude to life. You will both look and feel
fitter, you will be able to concentrate better
and sleep well. The old adage “a healthy body
leads to a healthy mind” is well founded!
Progress at the Gym should not be measured
on the scales! It is true that muscle weighs more
than fat. Measure your progress in the mirror,
by how your cloths fit and by your general well
being.
If you would like to be able to actually measure
your progress, then ask your Gym if they
can measure your body fat %, muscle mass
% and visceral fat % as these are the true
measurements of your body and as one goes
up and another goes down, you will be able to
measure progress.
Enjoy the Gym in 2014 and feel the difference
for the whole year!
