Does it matter that you have
happy thoughts all of the time?
It seems to me that
everyone is really
aware when they
are having negative
thoughts. People
mention that they
are having them,
or that they are
having worrying
thoughts or that they are “glass half empty”
people. So, I must presume that everyone
thinks having happy thoughts would be much
better, that negative thoughts are bad and
positive thoughts are good.
Certainly the feelings you are having in your
body are always coming from your thinking and
therefore it would be safe to say that if you are
having happy thoughts that you are also having
lovely feelings in your body. The world also
looks great from this position and often you will
have very little on your mind.
We have grown up to believe that when we
are feeling bad (having negative thoughts) that
something is very wrong and that we need to get
rid of the feelings or change them. We do this
in so many ways. Drink, gamble, shop, eat and
leave relationships and jobs or even the country.
There are hundreds of ways to try and get rid of
how we are feeling.
So, the question was, does it matter that you
have happy thoughts all of the time? I believe
the answer is no, because the feelings you are
getting from negative thoughts are a way for the
body to communicate that that is an area in your
life that you are not understanding properly, not
behaving well and that it wants you to do things
differently. It is asking us to shift perspective,
listen to ourselves more deeply and hear what it
wants us to do.
I can guarantee that in every one of you is a
voice that is guiding you to a much happier way
of behaving and ultimately to many, many more
happy thoughts.
Therefore, it is great to have happy thoughts all
of the time but only if the happy thoughts we are
having come from a place of truth, honesty and
integrity. For example, you may kill someone
and be extremely happy but it doesn’t mean that
those happy thought are coming from the right
place.
