What makes these particular boxes,
made locally, so worthwhile?
Nest-boxes made by the South Buckinghamshire
registered charity, the Foundation for Endangered
Species (known as FES) are all eco-friendly and
have been hand-made with high ethical standards.
As conservationists, we feel that these principles are
important.
Many cheap nest-boxes available from commercial
retailers have often used child labour from abroad or
other unfair labour practices. Moreover many items on
sale have been coated with decorative but poisonous
wood paint. FES makes all of their nest-boxes by hand,
either from recycled wood or off-cuts. Furthermore
they have usually used untreated wood which would
otherwise go into landfill sites.
