A Parent’s Guide to DDH
A book by Natalie Trice
Marlow resident Natalie is proud to
announce the release of her first book,
which offers a vital lifeline to parents
with children suffering from DDH
(Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip).
The condition occurs when the ball and
socket of the hip joint do not fit snugly
together, and it affects between one
and three children in every thousand
live births. While DDH is not life threatening, it is certainly life
changing, and Natalie hopes to raise awareness of the condition
whilst helping parents like herself. If left untreated, DDH can lead
to long term disability, hip replacements and lifelong pain.
Natalie’s son Lucas was diagnosed with DDH at four
months old and she experienced a distinct lack of information
and support regarding the condition. Instead, she felt overwhelmed by
horror stories and awful images. Her son is now six years old and his bravery
and determination is what inspired Natalie to write the book. Such a horrific experience is
unimaginable to many, and a guide like Natalie’s is essential and certainly long overdue.
Parents can be left feeling alone in dealing with the care of their children, which is something
that in this day and age should never be the case.
The book, Cast Life, outlines the condition in simple, easy to follow terms, and discusses the
treatments and products involved in a life for
