The Gardening Club - Holtspur
Primary School
Welcome to the
New Year and I
hope you all had
a great Christmas.
Mine was a
chance to relax
and eat too many
chestnuts (my
secret passion.) I do have a confession
though. I am completely guilty of
sneaking out on the pretext of buying
essential food items, (even though
the cupboards were still bulging), and
somehow finding myself shopping in
the sales. How did that happen?
Anyway, for once I didn’t buy
anything for the house, husband,
children or the dog but only returned
with bags that were going to be
emptied into my wardrobe. How
refreshing!
Just before the school broke up one
of my favourite people came to see
us, no not Santa, but Peter Seabrook
MBE.
Holtspur School had been lucky
enough to be picked by Peter and
The Sun newspaper to be one of the
few schools in the country chosen to
receive over 240 beautiful poinsettias.

These were handed out to each
child in the school and our choir
presented plants to the residents of
the retirement homes they visit each
year when they sing carols. Peter
accompanied us to Sunrise Living in
Beaconsfield where we spent a lovely
afternoon entertaining everyone
before giving each resident their
flowers. The choir sang beautifully as
always. Thank you to Mark Selwood
and Jackie Bennell from Exland Music,
two of our lovely music teachers, and
to Jo from Sunrise Living for making
us all so welcome.
And thank you again to the Sun
newspaper and to Peter for adding
that personal touch, you are always
more than welcome at Holtspur.
Happy New Year to you all.
