RESTAURANT REVIEW
As the vegan trend continues to grow, I’m finding
and reviewing the best vegan food Bucks has to offer.
Metro Lounge in Amersham offers a
whole vegan menu with a varied range
of plant-based options. There’s the
classic vegan falafel and hummus wrap
or pulled jackfruit burger you would
find on most vegan menus, but Metro
also offers a range of more unusual
dishes; the Vegan Burrito Wrap and
the Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato &
Black Bean Bowl both offer something
a bit different. I’d decided to go for
something I had never tried before and
so I opted for the Supergreen Salad.
It was surprisingly and pleasantly busy
for a Thursday afternoon, a nice buzz
around the place. The Lounges have a
relaxed, boho-style vibe with wooden
floors and assorted, old-fashioned
photos on the wall. It’s a cool aesthetic
and I always find it a nice atmosphere
for a lunch or dinner date. Despite the
extra customers, the service was quick
and my server, Luke, was polite and
attentive the whole time I was there.
The salad was an absolute treat, lots
of tasty veg on a bed of rocket with
a chilli and lime dressing on top. The
dressing itself was delicately fiery, and

the sweetness of the chilli flavour was
well complimented by the sharper taste
of the lime. The same was true of the
peas, edamame beans and tenderstem
broccoli, providing a sweeter crunch
against the tanginess of the rocket.
Sunflower seeds were sprinkled about
to add a bit of extra crunch (not to
mention lots of important minerals)
and there was of course avocado to
add some healthy fats. To me, what
was most pleasing about the whole
salad was the beetroot hummus
and the balsamic tomatoes. Both are
ingredients you don’t see as often as
the rest, which I always find a treat,
and the tomatoes added a wonderfully
tart flavour to the whole thing. The
hummus was a great finish on top too,
bringing a lovely, mild beetroot flavour
and a bit of extra colour.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable
meal in a comfortable and relaxed
setting. I would recommend anyone
to try something off the Metro Lounge
vegan menu, whether that’s a vegan
aficionado or a plant-based sceptic.
