year will be as good or even better, than the last
- gives you an acute appreciation of the value of
a bottle of English wine.
The moment the grapes are picked the vines turn
yellow. The vineyard settles into its autumn coat,
yellow leaves carpet the floor at the slightest puff
of wind. Soon the bare branches will herald the
next big task - winter pruning. This requires
experienced hands to remove the extraneous
canes, now woody and thick, and painstaking
work….to be completed by March at the latest.
What a tumultuous year this has been for
Dropmore. … trauma, transition, rallying,
renewal, harvest…..the circle of life, seen
through the seasons of a vineyard.
We will know in the New Year how we have done
without our founding vigneron when we get
first taste of our 2016 vintage. Hope you will
be intrigued enough by our story to seek out the
product locally and if to your taste, be moved to
ask, as JP used to urge, for a Dropmore wine
please!
No job too small, give me a call.
