Willow Weaving !
Well, what can I say except hats off to all willow weavers throughout the
land. It’s a lot harder than it looks.
First you have to soak the willow for THREE
days, yes, you did read that correctly, three
days, then you have to wrap it in a damp towel
overnight before you are finally ready to weave.
It is more demanding than any pet, plant, child
or husband for that matter that I have known.
But, the wait is worth it.
After a few minor setbacks we were off and
running. The children made a willow fish each.
Yr 6 loved it, Yr 3 found it a little tricky I have
to admit but the general outcome was that it
was a winner. When I have relaxed and my bath
is ready for another 3 day stint we will try some
basket weaving.
Now we are getting ready for Christmas, sowing
winter seeds, planting bulbs and possibly a
touch of festive chocolate tasting !
A big thank you, as always to Beaconsfield
Garden Centre for their help throughout the year and for our beautiful
Christmas tree, if you haven’t bought one yet, pop in, they are fabulous and
they have a great range to choose from.
Finally a thank you to my little gardening gang who again have earned
themselves a Silver Gilt Award this year through their hard work and are
always a pleasure to teach.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I will be back with you in the
New Year.
