CHARGE IN TO SPRING with the HIGH WYCOMBE
RACE FOR LIFE - Sunday 26th June 2016
With lighter evenings on the horizon, and
with warmer weather on its way, women of
all ages, shapes and sizes have the perfect
opportunity to kick-start a healthier lifestyle
by running the High Wycombe Cancer
Research UK’s 5k Race for Life.
Improve your fitness whilst raising money
for life-saving research. Becoming more
active has longer-term benefits, as research
shows that even regular, moderate physical
activity can help reduce the risk of cancer.
Not only does it help to maintain a healthy
body weight but it also has a protective effect
in itself.
Simon Burley, Cancer Research UK’s Buckinghamshire Event Manager, said: “Race for Life events are
not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast. It’s about an army of women crossing the finish line
together in the fight against cancer. You can run, walk or jog the 5k, it’s up to you.”
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k
events which raises millions of pounds every year to fund research to help beat 200 types of cancer.
Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance
research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across Buckinghamshire.
Free training plans for different levels of ability are available on the Race for Life website. The six-week
training plans are designed for walkers, joggers or runners. They feature guidance on warming up and
stretching, as well as motivation.
