Every year sees the Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year Award, a
prestigious award celebrating the top children’s books of that year. I
have been invited to attend the awards and by the time you read this,
the winner will have been announced, but I thought I would share with
you my favourites of the books that were on the shortlist (I couldn’t
fit them all into one article!)
The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow by Katherine Woodfine
Set in Edwardian times, Sophie is a headstrong and determined young lady who works at
Sinclair’s, the most magical department store in the world. However, when a man was shot and
valuable jewels go missing, Sophie was there at the time and the finger of blame points to her.
With the help of her new friends Lil and Billy, there are determined to find the criminal, however
dangerous it may be…
I loved this book; mysteries are one of my favourite genres of book and
this one certainly didn’t disapp
