The Gardening Club - Holtspur Primary School Holtspur School has finally dried out after the torrential rain and we managed to snatch a rare dry day during the half term to get together and dig over all 54 trees in our orchard. We are extremely lucky at Holtspur School to have such supportive parents and staff and they make a huge difference to us so thank you, you made what could have been a lot of hard work into a very enjoyable day. Our pond is doing very well, as you can see. The frogs have been extremely busy and obviously loving their new home, thank you Daisy in Year 3. Our next project is a very important one and I am especially proud to be part of it. We are going to sow our own Flanders Field here at Holtspur School to commemorate the centenary of the Great War. 50,000 Flanders Poppies will be sown by children, staff and parents around the orchard and field of the school which, when they flower in June/July, will hopefully create a beautiful memorial and one that in years to come the children will remember creating. Till next time.
