P ROJ E C T Update
For those of you who have been following the plans and
preparations leading up to our 2016 visit, here’s a round-up
of some of the things we managed to achieve whilst in Zambia.
From the wonderful knitting
ladies who knitted the winter
away to make hats and jumpers
for the children, to the Flackwell
Heath Minors Football club who
donated football kits and finally
the Bourne End and Cookham
Rotary Club who supported
this trip, we can’t thank you all
enough.
As can be seen from the photos
everything was gratefully
received.
FLACKWELL HEATH MINORS FOOTBALL KIT
We worked in various schools
and met with Zambian Rotary
groups who are also supporting
us on our project. We spent lots of time with the WVZP
group who are based in Lusaka managing the project
for us over there (without them communication would
be very hard indeed). Most of the group is made up of
students we met in schools over the last few years. Their
dedication to the project knows no bounds. It really is all
about “making friends and working together to improve
lives”.
Our adventurous group this year included teachers Jade
from Westfield School in Bourne End, Anne and Jasmeet
from Godolphin School in Slough, Matthew and Kumiko
from Bardwell School in Bicester, after-school cookery
teacher and Rotaractor Rachel from Rachel’s Creative
Cooking, plus Rotarians Sue and Mike from Bourne End

and Cookham Rotary Club, WVZP charity Accountant
Lesley and finally Jolanta, Mayor of Bicester, Governor of Bardwell School and Rotarian at Bicester
Rotary.
Everybody brought with them expertise and knowledge from their particular field and the whole group
worked really well together.
