Hedgerley Historical Society One of our members Stephen Palmer will present a talk on Samuel Pepys - on the 19th October Samuel Pepys was one of Britain’s greatest diarists. The Great Fire of September 1666 was the most dramatic event in London’s long history, and Pepys was there vividly recording his experiences. We shall live these turbulent days through his eyes and be guided by Pepys through the life and times of an eventful decade. We will visit the Buckinghamshire Museum Stores on the 24th October- Places are limited and booking is required (£10 per person) The Museum Resource Centre at Halton is part of Bucks County Museum. It is where most of the County Museum’s collections are stored, comprising well over 100,000 items spanning the natural and cultural heritage of Buckinghamshire from 200 million years ago right up to the present day. The collections include social history, costume & textiles, archaeology, natural history, geology, art, studio ceramics and more. Curator-led tours of the Resource Centre are a unique and fascinating way for visitors to get up close to these stored collections and to learn more about what goes on behind-the-scenes in a museum. This will be followed on Saturday 29th October with a Study Day (10am – 4pm) on Family History presented by Martin Baker This workshop is aimed at relative beginners through to those with some experience, but who want to learn more. It is aimed at Internet users, and discusses best use of Internet resources.
