Poppy’s Story Hiya Bucks says: Poppy has been one of Hiya Bucks’ biggest fans over the years. She loves receiving her monthly copy and looking at all the pictures. We’ve been following Poppy’s story on facebook over the last few months and when we saw she had started school we invited her Mum to share the good news with you all. Poppy Lyn Bullock was born in September 2011, a healthy 7lb 12oz, a little sister to her brother Jacob. Poppy reading Hiya Bucks In July 2014, when Poppy was just 2 years 10 months old, she was diagnosed with Cancer. A Stage 4 Wilms tumour with a secondary in her lungs. At this point, mine and my family’s lives would change forever. Following Poppy’s diagnosis ensued 8 weeks of chemotherapy to shrink the tumour. This was then removed, a kilo of solid tumour, along with her left kidney and lymph nodes. After a further 14 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in September 2015, Poppy was finally in remission!! However, a general clinic visit in December 2015 showed Poppy had relapsed with a 13mm tumour in her lung. We were beyond devastated. On December 23rd Poppy had part of her lung removed, along with the new tumour. After a very quiet Christmas, Poppy received a further 5 months of chemotherapy, 2 stem cell harvests, high dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. I am very happy, thankful and relieved to say that for the last 3 months Poppy has shown NED. NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! For the second time in two years, Poppy has kicked Cancer’s butt. Turning 5 at the end of September, Poppy has just started school.
