Eek! I don’t like spiders, I especially don’t
like the enormous ones that have furry legs
and big fat bodies. But over the last week
we have had four of these spiders in our
house. The first one totally freaked me out
as it was hiding behind the computer and
there was no way I was going to relax with it
being there. So a huge thank you goes to
my neighbour, Becky, who I called upon to
rescue me.
The next spider made his appearance the
following day, making me leap up and spill
my hot cup of tea everywhere. I wasn’t
impressed! This was removed by my
husband using the old glass and piece of
paper trick, but he doesn’t like spiders either
so there was a lot of chat beforehand with
“why me” and “do I have too” .
We had a couple of days rest before spider
number 3 appeared in the bath. My son
said “Mum, we have a large bug problem”
before insisting I take a look. I couldn’t look,
so as it was late at night the vacuum cleaner
was called upon. This did result in some joy
however watching my son use the vacuum,
a rare occurrence indeed, and I made sure
he vacuumed other rooms afterwards so the
spider didn’t crawl back out.
Now, today, spider number 4 has appeared
and it has yet to be removed. I know where
it is, so as long as it doesn’t move I’ll be
ok. It’s crazy isn’t it to be so scared of
spiders but I know I am not alone. That’s
Autumn for you, it brings
them all into the house to
keep warm!
Whatever you encounter
this month be brave, and
stay safe!
Helen
