Traditional Chilterns Christmas 29 & 30 November
Emily Everitt from Beaconsfield thoroughly enjoyed
her time at Chiltern Open Air Museum’s working
horse event in September. The images here show
her ploughing with the Museum’s heavy horses
Joshua and Harvey. Museum horse Samuel can
be seen in the images pulling the new horse gin
(engine) outside Hill Farm Barn in our Victorian
Farm. The horse engine operates a restored corn
mill inside the barn and visitors were able to see
this fascinating and rare sight over the weekend.
The event was a huge success with hundreds of
visitors coming to admire the visiting heavy horses
demonstrating horse logging, ploughing, harrowing,
carting hay and, of course, the horse Gin.
