It’s great to know so many of you really enjoy reading Hiya Bucks magazine! This month I want to talk about our monthly competition. I’m having to bring forward the closing date for entries to the 10th of the month from now on. It’s always crazy here in the office during the last few days before we go to print with the phone ringing off the hook and emails flying back and forth. There’s a fabulous competition prize up for grabs of a meal for two (see page 24 for details). As they say, you have to be “in it to win it” so get entering. It amazes me each month the trouble some people will go to to try and win. Whilst each and every winner is randomly selected each month I love receiving hand written letters and postcards from faraway places. The excitement of receiving a letter in the post never goes away does it. I suppose it’s something the next generation probably won’t really get with the majority of correspondence now taking place on social media. But fear not, your social media entries are logged and recorded just like the hand written ones are. I’ll tell you this about our competitions in 2014 one of our readers made a New Year’s Resolution to enter every Hiya Bucks competition throughout 2015. Finally, in December, they won! And the prize was a dog hamper – except “Gloria” didn’t have a dog. Oh well, she was still happy to win, meaning whatever the prize is each month go ahead and enter as you can always give the prize away as a present. Good luck.
