Letter from the Editor
You know the saying “ it ’ s a small world ”? Well it really is a small world , let me tell you why .
A couple of months ago I ran a competition for tickets to see the Matt Monro Story at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre , featuring Matt Monro ’ s son , Matt Monro Jr . The lucky winner of this competition ( picked at random as per usual ) was Mrs Wilkinson .
When I popped round to give Mrs Wilkinson the good news about winning I discovered that both her and her husband were suffering with flu and they felt very poorly . It cheered them up no end to hear they had won 4 tickets .
Chatting briefly ( I kept my distance because of their flu ) I learned that Mr Wilkinson knew the late Matt Monro Sr from years and years ago , when he was a bus driver .
This got me thinking . So …. as a special surprise , I have arranged for Mr & Mrs Wilkinson to meet with Matt Monro Jr after the show to talk about the good ol ’ days . Matt Monro Jr , as you can imagine , is thrilled to have the opportunity of meeting one of his late father ’ s friends .
You never quite know where entering one of my competitions will take you ! This month I have tickets for Tom Kerridge ’ s brand new event Pub in the Park , taking place in Marlow in May . Whether you win tickets , or buy them , let ’ s hope the sun shines and we all have a very enjoyable day .
Finally , Happy Mother ’ s Day to all the Mums out there – check out Rachel ’ s recipe for her lime and coconut cake , it ’ s delicious ! AND the clocks go forward on Mother ’ s Day which means summer is getting very close . I can ’ t wait !
