Firstly, Sunday 18th June is Father’s Day. This is a time when all the fathers out there can sit down, relax, laze around, be served their dinner, be given a beer or two, watch the sport on TV …… hang on a minute ... that’s any Sunday isn’t it? If you are looking to eat out we can suggest The Swan in Old Amersham or The Black Horse in Chesham; have a read of our reviews in this magazine. Another special date in June is the summer solstice which falls on Wednesday 21st June. This fills me with both excitement and dread. The excitement being that maybe, just maybe, it might be warm enough to sit outside in the garden and appreciate the extra hours of daylight. The dread, of course, is that from this day onwards it is all downhill to winter. That doesn’t bear thinking about so forget I ever mentioned it! Bucks Open Studios take place this month between 10th and 25th. I love visiting as many of these as possible. I am in awe of anyone who has creative talent and can never resist buying something to go in my garden, albeit another bird bath, a lovely hanging basket or something to reflect the sun’s rays. You’ll find so many things to see and do in this month’s magazine and also lots of very useful local information too.
