You may call me “ Ma ’ m ”. Ma ’ m of the Marigold . Has quite a ring to it don ’ t you think ? Or does it make me sound old ? ......... Anyway , the tricky little wotsits decided to do what they should be doing and grow to the correct height . As I write this we haven ’ t yet visited the show but myself , our head teacher and four students will be there . I can relax , mission accomplished .
The results of our experiments are quite amazing I have to say . As you can see from the photos , a tricky marigold grows far better in Miracle Gro compost than one in just normal garden soil . And I promise you they were treated exactly the same .
Our “ senses ” experiments also proved that being outdoors , even for just a short time , greatly enhances our children ’ s natural senses of smell , hearing , taste and touch . In what can often be a very stressful world for our children a few minutes outside each day just taking time to notice what ’ s around them works wonders . Their imaginations run wild when you ask them to describe what grass smells like without using the word “ grass ”. and they have re-discovered that laying on it on a warm day with your eyes shut just listening is a great way to relax . XBox , iPhone and Playstation - you just cannot compete with what Mother Nature has provided .
