WILD STRAWBERRY CAFE
Every now and then in Bucks , I come across somewhere that ’ s so lovely I can ’ t believe I didn ’ t visit sooner .
I had read about the Wild Strawberry Café on social media and thought it sounded like a great idea , but it was the wrong time of year ( the café is open during the milder months only ). So when we were invited for lunch and a piece of cake , I couldn ’ t wait to see what it had to offer .
Set within a bright white yurt , the Wild Strawberry Café is a pop-up restaurant in Great Missenden that opened in June 2014 . The surroundings are beautiful , on the grounds of Peterley Manor Farm in acres of greenery . Don ’ t worry if it ’ s bad weather , there ’ s a concrete car park and a wooden walkway taking you straight to the yurt door . It rained when we were there and it was really cosy hearing it on the roof while we were warm next to the log fire .
The yurt is surprisingly large inside – not what you expect on approaching it – and is bright , colourful and rustic with understated elegance . The staff are all outgoing and the atmosphere was buzzing – lots of families and children chattering happily while enjoying their food and drinks . The menu is fantastic , just to my taste , and I hope to return soon to sample the breakfast ( 8.30-11.30 Tues-Sat / 9-12 Sun ), which includes locally-sourced Chiltern bacon sandwich , French toast and blueberry pancake stack , which would definitely be my choice !
