... recently held a Your Health evening entitled How Do You Know If You Have Diabetes ?
Despite a rainy evening the event was well attended and was introduced by Gill Markham , Chair of The Simpson Centre & Penn Surgery Patient Participation Group . Gill explained the purpose of the PPG is to provide an effective communication link to and from the Practice , and its patients , in pursuit of improving local healthcare services and standards in the best interests of patients .
Dr Robinson , who leads the Simpson Centre & Penn Surgery diabetic team , discussed diabetes warning signs , treatment , consequences and the concern in the growth of Type 2 diabetes ( 4 million in 2016 ).

Emma Sherrington , Community Dietitian with Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust , spoke about the implications of obesity increasing the risk of diabetes and other diseases . Emma gave guidance regarding a healthy diet and an Eatwell Guide and left the meeting with a positive message that lifestyle interventions that involve changes in diet , physical activity levels and managing body weight can reduce risk by up to 50 %.
Lori Williamson and Angela Jessop represented the Aylesbury Vale Clinical Commissioning Group and discussed the case for making change for a healthier lifestyle and launched the NHS Live Well , Stay Well service which is available to everyone .
