August 2014 Letter from the Editor Front Cover:  Bekonscot Model Village. Bekonscot are celebrating their 85th Anniversary in August – see page 18 for details. Recently I was invited to attend the opening of the new Rose Garden at Cliveden National Trust in Taplow (see page 2). It was a beautiful sunny morning and the roses looked spectacular. What surprised me though was the way in which the National Trust is encouraging families to visit. There is plenty to keep the kids amused at Cliveden and the Grandparents entertained too for that matter. So often we think of a day out as a long distance trip such as going to the coast, or up to London, or perhaps the Cotswolds for example, but we have so much here in Buckinghamshire to entertain us. There is nothing nicer after a full day out than having just a short journey to get home to put the kettle on. If Cliveden isn’t your thing however there are plenty of other local events going on in August, not least the 85th Anniversary of Bekonscot Model Village and Railway.
