RETURNS WITH STELLAR LINE UP Following the success of the 2016 Buckingham Literary Festival, the line-up for 2017 has been announced and boasts some of the biggest names in literature, politics and entertainment. The three day event, which takes place from Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July, brings an exciting mix of talks, discussions, poetry, film and theatre to the beautiful market town of Buckingham. Authors including Louise Doughty, whose novel Apple Tree Yard was recently adapted by the BBC, world renowned children’s author Jacqueline Wilson, and one of Britain’s best loved poets, Roger McGough, will be speaking. There will be the opportunity for the audience to question the authors, meet them in person and get their books signed. Also present will be both Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP and former MP and last Governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, who will be talking about his new book, First Confession. Events will be held throughout the town at venues including the Old Gaol, the Radcliffe Centre and Buckingham Library. For aspiring writers there will also be the chance to meet agents and other publishing professionals and to attend creative writing workshops to hone their writing skills. Christopher Woodhead, founder of Buckingham Literary Festival, said: ‘We were delighted by the success of last year’s festival and the line up for 2017 will make this year’s festival one of the highlights of the summer. With the opportunity to attend live performances and workshops and with topics ranging from politics and history to health and crime fiction we are sure that the Buckingham Literary Festival 2017 is an event not to be missed!’ For more information on events taking place at the festival and latest news on confirmed speakers, please visit www.bucklitfest.org or follow @bucklitfestival on twitter.
