Restaurant Review
THE GARIBALDI
We visited this community-owned traditional freehouse pub on a
Tuesday evening and were surprised to see how full it was; luckily
we had booked a table. We hadn’t realised that Tuesday nights
were Mussels night and these were what the majority of diners were
eating. Personally they are not to my liking but my friend chose them
and she said they were very tasty. I opted for the crispy-skinned
seabass with crab cakes and samphire and it was simply delicious,
there’s no other way of describing it. I shall definitely be returning to
eat this again.
The side dishes looked tempting but Kirsty, the Manager, explained
that the meals were plentiful and, as we weren’t starving, we felt it
would be just too greedy to order them. She was right of course,
we were full and consequently missed out on sampling the desserts
too.
If we had
been dining at the
weekend we would
definitely have gone for a more leisurely meal
sampling all three courses.
If you are planning a meal out for 8 people there
is the perfect table for you in the conservatory.
It is slightly separated from the main pub and
would be ideal for a special occasion where
you want to have a little extra space.
Some English pubs these days are serving
food worthy of top-class restaurants, using
local, seasonal produce, lovingly prepared by
excellent chefs. The Garibaldi is one of these
pubs, we definitely recommend it to you.
