Hiya Bucks Restaurant Review...
The Cherry Tree, Flackwell Heath
We’d heard The Cherry Tree served the best roast dinner around
so we thought we would go and see for ourselves.
When we arrived at this traditional English
village pub we were immediately shown to our
reserved table. The atmosphere was peaceful
and relaxing with gentle music playing in the
background which was nice to listen to. We were
really looking forward to our
roast dinner.
We can’t complain about the
service as we were promptly
asked on arrival if we’d like
a drink. The staff were very
attentive, but not intrusive.
They didn’t give us menus
to order from, instead they
displayed their menus on a
blackboard on the wall right
by our table, which we had a
clear view of. We quite liked
this; there’s nothing worse
than being given a tired
grubby menu to hold.
We had a choice of roast
chicken, beef or pork; there
were also other options on
the menu such as homemade
hot and spicy beef chilli or
vegetable curry for example.
Having visited to taste the
roast dinner, roast dinner
it was, with our choices
being pork and beef. We
ordered the large roast, not
the small, as we were very
hungry. However, even with
a large appetite, we only just
managed to eat it all, the
serving was indeed plentiful.
Being dairy and gluten free
makes eating out quite
difficult sometimes. This was
not the case at The Cherry
Tree though, where they
made sure everything was
ok for us to eat, even serving gluten free gravy
which tasted lovely! The roast potatoes were
crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The
vegetables (broccoli, carrots, green beans and
peas) were all cooked perfectly. The pork was
exceptionally tasty, the beef beautifully cooked,
and we could tell they only buy the best quality
meat. This says a lot about this lovely little pub,
they clearly do not scrimp on
quality or quantity. We were
given little side dishes of
apple and horseradish sauce
too, to accompany our meals.
We ate our lunch at a leisurely
pace and were never given
the impression they needed
our table back quickly. This
can so often be the case when
eating Sunday lunch out, and
it was nice to be able to take
the time to enjoy our food.
We were way too full to have
dessert though, but they all
sounded very appetizing, for
example Eton Mess (a former
favourite before the gluten
free diet kicked in).
The parking was easy with
plenty of local free car parks
should all the spaces in the
pub car park be full. You can
