Overnight Oats

As I am sure most of you reading this can relate I am always finding myself leaving my house in a rush in the mornings . Which usually isn ' t conducive to a well planned breakfast . I found myself drinking a protein shake almost every day . Although a shake is always a great choice having the same thing everyday does tend to get old . Recently I have been making overnight oatmeal to which allows me to grab and go saving me time in the morning and with the endless possibility of combinations keeps my breakfast choices fresh . I make this in the evening and let it soak in the refrigerator overnight .

Ingredients : 1 / 2 cup of oats or 1 / 4 cup for lower calories 1 cup unsweetended almond milk or 1 / 2 cup for lower calories 1 scoop protein powder or 3 / 4 scoop for lower calories 1 / 2 thin sliced banana or 1 / 4 sliced banana for lower calories 1 table spoon almond butter or 1 / 2 tablespoon for lower calories 1 table spoon cinnamon 1 table spoon unsweetened coco powder

Nutritional Values : Calories 480 ; Protein 36 ; Carb 49 ; Fat 17 Nutritional Values for Lower Calorie version : Calories 280 ; Protein 25 ; Carbs 27 ; Fat 9

Directions : Add all ingredients into a Mason jar or any container with a tight lid and mix all ingredients really well . Place in the refrigerate over night for at least 5 hours . Just grab in the morning and give a good stir . these can be eaten cold or warmed up . Adjust the thickness to your liking with extra milk or water . These can be made far in advance and will keep for up to 5 days .

Other ingredients to consider when making your own concoction : almonds , cashews or any nuts ( whole or ground ); blueberries , strawberries , apples , raisins or any fruit ( frozen , fresh or dried ); Greek yogurt ; Honey , agave nectar , stevia or other sweetener ; chia seeds , pumpkin seed or any other seeds
