When the temperatures start to drop, leaves begin to change color, and the air develops a delicious crisp feeling, you know that fall is on the way. Time to pack away your swimwear and short-shorts, and go into hibernation mode. Say what??!! Not a chance! Being fit and healthy is a lifestyle. That means no matter what the season, regardless of the amount of skin you will be exposing, you’re eating and exercise habits need to stay on track. I grew up in the beautiful state of Vermont, notorious for its breathtaking fall foliage. Some people get “spring fever”, but I always have “fall fever” since this is the perfect time of year to refocus on health and fitness as well as get creative with training, nutrition and goal setting. Rather than tossing in the towel and falling out of your fitness regiment in the autumn months, this is the perfect occasion to get motivated since the holidays, filled with temptation, are just around the corner! Here are a few tips to fan your fitness flame this fall season. Take your training outside –Fall is the perfect time to think outside the box and log some training hours away from the gym. Try new workouts that will refresh you as well as help you blast through any plateau’s you may have hit. Explore your area and find new hiking or biking trails or recreational parks where you can be in the great outdoors for a brisk walk, run or circuit training workout. A park bench can be the perfect place for a quick full body training workout! Have a stadium near your home? Try out some fat blasting exercises such as stadium lunges or stair sprint intervals. If you've got a hill close-by mix things up with frog jumps or air chairs!
