School Board Hikes Salary of Attorney
The Lauderdale County School Board Friday in executive session raised the monthly
salary of school board attorney William Compton from $100 to $125 a month. The board also
granted a right of way easement to the East Mississippi Electric Power Assn., to cross the
property of the White Oak School. In other business at the closed door session the board
changed the time of the regular monthly meeting form the Wednesday proceeding the 10th day of
each month to the Tuesday before the 10th day of the month, and set the time at 9 a.m. The board
also approved orders for the following: Employed Mrs. Mildred G. Johnson as teacher for the
Clarkdale School second semester of this year; Changed the telephone line from the Lauderdale
County School Bus Garage to a one-party line; Approved a supplemental contract for Winner M.
Palmer, teacher at Center Hill School and Approved bills for payment. The board recessed until
1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
