Before 1955 each school in Lauderdale County had its own school trustees. In 1953-54 the white trustees were: Bonita – Curtis Miller, F.E. Anderson, Belton Walters, Otis Smith and J.L. Sims; Causeyville – Willie Hagwood, Otis Culpepper and J.F. Hagwood; Center Hill – W.T. Covinton, John W. Wilson, D.F. McKee, Chestine Snowden and W.T. Talbert; Clarkdale – Raymond E. Fountaine, Ed M. Pogue, H.D. Walker, R.M. McLemore and Ernest Moffett; Collinsville – Roy Phillips, A.O. Calvert, T.T. Thames, C.A. Carlton and W.C. Walker; Dixie Highway – Stancil Suter, W.D. Pigford, Gilbert Robinson, Monroe Gressett and W.H. Barrett; Kennedy – Billy Bounds, V.C. Hill and G.T. Leehard; Lauderdale – R.T. Cobb, Ben Clayton, Robert Payne, James Carlton and Brad Rhaley; Long Creek – J.C. Warren, Horace Clark, LaVerne McDonald, Lewis Pickard and Willie King; Marion – H.S. Kinard, Charlie Morgan and Aubrey Engell; Martin – J.C. Bozeman, B.C. Herrington, N.L. Frazier, Bill Ethridge and F.B. Davis; Meehan – W.G. Boardman, C.A. Martin, Clifton Eakes, W.M. Johnson and A.L. Speed; Ponta – D.L. Covinton, H.L. Davis, A.T. Harvey, Grady Long and Joe Covington; Suqualena – A.E. Ezelle, A.P. Blackman, W.L. Bryant, Leon Freeman and G.I. Allen; Vimville – R.D. Boswell, W.E. Rollins and J.M. Butler and Whynot – M.L. Rasberry, Odis Shirley and Lorraine McRae. In July 27, 1954 The Lauderdale County School Board approved the contract between the trustees of Kennedy School District and Meridian Municipal Separate School District to transfer all pupils under its jurisdiction to Meridian.
