The Crusades
The Crusades were a series of war in which Europe tried to take control over Jerusalem. from the Muslims. Jerusalem was really important for a lot of religions in the Middle ages. It was important to the Jewish because the temple built by King Solomon was in Jerusalem. Jerusalem was also the place where Muslims believed that the prophet Mohammed ascended to heaven. Christ was executed on the cross and rose again in Jerusalem. There were 9 crusades. The first crusade was the most successful since Europe actually managed to take control over Jerusalem. The rest of the crusades were either unsuccessful or a complete disaster.
