The Protestant Reformation

The protestant reformation took place in the 16 century. The reason why it started was because people thought that the Catholic church needed to change the way it worked. Some causes were that the church started selling tickets to forgiveness of sins for money, many people did not understand the sermon (part of the service) because it was in Latin. Imagine sitting there in the church listening to people talking in a language you don't understand for like 30 minutes. To change that, Martin Luther started a reformation against the church. This lead to the division of the protestant churches and the catholic churches.
