-Expansion of farmland

-Good weather

-Improved transportations

-Increase of food supply

-Ready supply of money to invest in new machines and factories

-Water power for new factories

-Ships that could transport

Cotton Production

Manufacture of cotton

-Spinners made cotton threads from raw cotton

-Weavers wove the cotton thread into cloth on looms

1764- James Hargraves invented the spinning jenny

1787- Edmund Cartwrightt invented the water-powered loom

1760’s- James Watt improved the steam engine

Iron industry- started because of the use of coal

Railroads- important for the industrial revolution

-1st invented by Richard Trevithick

-Created new jobs to farm laborers and peasants

-Less expensive transportation led to lower-priced goods

Industrial Revolution spread to the rest of Europe, USA and Germany

1807- paddle-wheel steamboat by Robert Fulton

Population grew because of the decline of death rates, wars and diseases

They were new social classes

Socialism- government owns and controls the means of production
