His Daughters' Letters Trust A New | Page 27

Jesus to be healed. But even in that act of faith, he still wavered. “...if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” If you can. IF. His courageous faith is full of holes. Then, when Jesus said, “Everything is possible to him who believes,” the man exclaims, “I do believe; help me in my unbelief!” He actually admits his unbelief. I believe therein lies the key and the glorious manifestation of his faith. He trusts, but he doesn’t trust. He believes, but he doesn’t believe. He wavers in his conviction, and yet is convicted. It is such a paradox, and a beautiful collision of the divine and the human, the supernatural and the natural, the perfect and the imperfect.

Somewhere in all of that mix, Jesus finds that shred of faith that tears away the veil between the ordinary and the extraordinary, and he heals the man’s son and sends the demons fleeing and shrieking. How glorious! Jesus sees past the questions and imperfections and moves mightily on the man’s behalf.

He does it for us, too, dear friends. The next time Satan tempts you to think your grain of mustard seed faith is not enough, use it against him. Tell the mountains to move, and just know they moved—whether you see it or not. In that, the enemy is vanquished, your faith is victorious, and your trust is made complete. Though you may not have the answers or see the purpose, and you feel weak and wavering, know that there is a God who sees the eternal, and one day he will say to you the precious words, “Well done.” Then, it will be worth it all.
