Sacred Text of Hinduism
There are four Vedas, the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda. The Vedas are the primary texts of Hinduism. The text of the Vedas has the same age and origin of the universe. Scholars say that the Rig Veda, which is the oldest of the four Vedas, was composed around 1500 B.C. and arranges into a systematic code about 600 B.C. It is unknown when it was finally committed to writing. The Vedas contains hymns, incantations, and rituals from ancient India. The are among one of the earliest religious texts in existence.

Upanishads: philosophic texts on the nature of ultimate reality
According to Investigating religion text book The hymns focus on Braham as pure being, pure consciousness and ultimate reality. Braham is not a god but is above all the gods, who derive their being and power from Braham.
