Fear is a robber of dreams and visions; fear
is also a robber of life.
F
ear has held many bound in one spot
for too long; they fail to move even
when they know that they should,
because of fear; it paralyzes them
and keeps them rooted to the spot. How-
ever, the truth is what you are afraid of is
also afraid of you. It fears the potential bur-
ied deep inside of you; it fears what you can
achieve when you set your mind to it.
Fear is a robber of dreams and visions;
fear is also a robber of life. So many people
die, when they should live, because of fear.
I remember a story I heard some time ago;
a farmer was working on his farm one day
when he saw death go by, he called out
and asked, “Why are you here?” Death
responded, “I am on my way to the city to
take one person.” On getting home later
that evening, the farmer heard that three
people had died in the city and he wondered
if perhaps death had told him a lie. Many
days later, the farmer was working on his
farm and he saw death go by and he called
out and asked, “Why did you lie to me the
other day? You said you were going to take
one person but it turns out you took three
people.” Death responded and said “I did
not lie to you, I did take one person; fear
took the other two.”
The children of Israel are a good
example of what I am talking about. They
were told prior to leaving Egypt that God
had a land for them, a land flowing with
milk and honey and this excited them,
however, when the time came to possess
the land, fear stopped them. Moses sent out
spies to view the land and ten out of twelve
returned with a negative report, a report
that put fear in the hearts of the people and
caused them to seek to return to slavery
instead of going forward into the land God
had promised. The interesting thing is that
if you continue reading that story you will
get to a point where two spies are sent out
(this time by Joshua) to view the land and
upon their arrival, they enter into a conver-
sation with Rahab the harlot who hid them
in her house; here you will learn that all
the time the children of Israel were afraid
of confronting the opposition, Jericho, the
people of Jericho were also afraid of being
confronted by the children of Israel.
What is it that you are afraid of? What-
ever you fear also fears you, so ignore the
fear and reach for your dream.
