Your Thoughts and Focus –
Why They Matter

hat makes our thoughts? What
causes us to lose our focus?
What is that which the enemy
will bring our way and cause us
to turn away from God?
In Ezekiel 23, the two promiscuous
sisters “Oholah- Samaria and Oholibah-Je-
rusalem” where discussed. Even though the
Bible recorded it as a parable, God used it
to illustrate how good things can become
rotten when we look away from Christ, the
Cross, our focus. Samaria and Jerusalem
where sent to conquer the Assyrian army
but instead they became whores. They were
sexually attracted to the Assyrian men and
anyone who desired them.

First, was the sister Oholah, she was
stripped naked by Assyrian men and robbed
of all she had and the same happened to her
younger sister (Oholibah). From the inci-
dence, Assyria dominated the city of Israel.
The story illustrates how the enemy turns
off the glory of God in our lives. When His
light in our lives become turned off, we
become lukewarm. We are instructed in the
Bible to let our lights shine before men that
they may see our good works and glorify
our Father in Heaven (Matt. 5:16).
Engaging in sin and allowing the world
to crowd our thoughts with words like “this
is the modern age” will cause seeds of evil
to be sown in our hearts (Matt 13). If we are
