are wonderful, you
are loved and if no
one else loves you,
you can be assured
that God does!
I have enclosed
in this article
some examples
of people in the
Bible who were depressed, heavy laden
or overwhelmed by life. These examples
are intended only with the purpose to
encourage you that you aren’t not alone and
it is not intended to urge anyone that suicide
should be the final option in life!
1. Woman at Zarephath: “As surely as the
Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I
don’t have any bread—only a handful
of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a
jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take
home and make a meal for myself and
my son, that we may eat it and die (I
Kings 17:7, NIV).”
2. Elijah: “While he himself went a day’s
journey into the wilderness. He came
to a broom bush, sat down under it and
prayed that he might die. “I have had
enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life;
I am no better than my ancestors (I
Kings 19:4, NIV).”
3. David: “Oh that I had wings like a
dove; then I would fly away and rest
(Psalm 55:6, NLT)!”
4. Ahitophel: “When Ahithophel saw
that his advice had not been followed,
he saddled his donkey and set out for
his house in his hometown. He put

his house in order
and then hanged
himself. So he died
and was buried in
his father’s tomb
(II Samuel 17:23,
NIV).”
5.
Abimel-
ech: “Hurriedly
he called to his armor-bearer, “Draw
your sword and kill me, so that they
can’t say, ‘A woman killed him.’” So his
servant ran him through, and he died
(Judges 9:54, NIV).”
6. Saul: “Saul groaned to his armor
bearer, “Take your sword and kill me
before these pagan Philistines come to
run me through and taunt and torture
me.” But his armor bearer was afraid
and would not do it. So Saul took his
own sword and fell on it (I Samuel 31:4,
NLT).”
7. Job: “After a while, Job opened his
mouth to speak. He cursed the day he
had been born. 2 He said, “May the
day I was born be wiped out. May the
night be wiped away when people said,
‘A boy is born!’ May that day turn into
darkness. May God in heaven not care
about it. May no light shine on it. May
gloom and total darkness take it back.
May a cloud settle over it. May black-
ness cover it up (Job 3:1-5, NIRV).”
In conclusion, may God bless and
empower every person that is reading this
article today to know that they are loved,
they are valuable and that they aren’t alone
