M
y dear Jesus, please give me
faith and great endurance in
every type of suffering. And
may I thank you and rejoice in
you even in all the sorrow.
2 Corinthians 6:3 “We put no obstacle in
anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found
with our ministry, but as servants of God we
commend ourselves in every way: by great
endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,”
Joy, thankfulness, faith, peace, wisdom
and great endurance in suffering- work those
into the fibers of my soul. May I still be able
to see the light in the darkness. May I have
joy in the sorrow. Peace in the calamity.
Faith in the silence. Hope in you, despite
that from an earthly perspective, the circum-
stances seem to be growing increasingly
worse. Rejoicing and loving while walking
in the pain of this life. Looking ever heaven-
ward into your face and forgetting to look at
the seen and temporary.
2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not
on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since
what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
eternal.”
Growing to be more like Jesus in a
world that tempts us to be everything but.
Romans 8:29 “For those whom he foreknew
he also predestined to be conformed to the image
of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn
among many brothers.”
Dying to myself, so I can finally stop
looking at myself.
Matthew 16:24-25 “Then Jesus told his
disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let
him deny himself and take up his cross and
follow me. For whoever would save his life will
lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will
find it.’”
May I trust in your ways from the
deepest crevices of my being, instead of
being consumed by my own very real long-
ings and desires.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all
your heart, and do not lean on your own under-
standing. In all your ways acknowledge him, and
he will make straight your paths.”
God may I find my steadfast joy, not
in my husband, my home, my children, my
finances, my health…but only in you. May
I rejoice in you, regardless of whether I am
dressed in the many layers of earthly bless-
ings, or if they are stripped of me until I am
bare, and I am left with You alone. May I say
“I love you. You are enough” and mean it.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 “Though the fig tree
should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the
produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no
food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there
be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the
LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salva-
tion.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all
circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus for you.”
