FOR YOUR INSPIRATION
When
Completion
Outweighs
Perfection
by Chizoba Anyimukwu
I
sn’t it so interesting how we are more
eager to complete a task than perfect the
art of the task. We really do not care how
we get to our destination as long as we
are going to get there. I remember going to
a mall last year with a friend and the store
we were looking for had moved to their new
building. My friend and I kept looking for
shorter routes to get to the new building
and all attempts failed. It was not until we
left the entire building and took the suppos-
edly” longer” but visibly faster route that we
got to our destination.
In Exodus 29-30, the Bible described
how after the people had sacrificed their
best gifts to God, the priest had to go in
every year for the atonement of their sins.
The people were given a strategic approach
that must be completed before the high
priest could go into the Holy of Holies for
the atonement of sins. In Exodus 31-32,
Moses had gone to speak to the Lord and
the Israelites thought he was delaying them
and thought it wise enough to persuade

Aaron to make them other gods. Sometimes
people trick us into getting our hands sticky.
We look and copy the ways of the world,
idolize their hurried style of completion and
seek for human praises.
When Jesus came, He did not put an
end by completing the sacrifice, He paid the
perfect price for us on the cross at Calvary.
When completion outweighs perfection, the
end result is a half-baked blessing, a finished
product without perfection. Do not always
be in a hurry. Abraham trusted in the Lord’s
perfection through faith and it was counted
to him as righteousness.
Finally, my beautiful HimPower family,
I implore you, do not be pressured into
completing, be more enthusiastic about
perfection.
