You always hear people talking up their eating ability and saying I could eat a horse , I can eat this , I can eat that ; it ’ s very easy to say . And then one day I met this guy , world eating champion from Atlas , Randy Santel .
If you ’ re into the world of professional food eating challenges and like shows such as Man vs Food , there is every chance that you have seen and heard of Randy Santel . He ’ s a big guy too , coming in at a solid six foot six inches , his food eating exploits are phenomenal .
Randy has travelled all the way to Australia for his first food eating challenge since 2017 . And this time he has brought over his girlfriend Katina , who is better known as Katina Eats Kilos in the professional world eating circuit .
They are here for a whirlwind Australian ten-week tour and are taking on food challenges and eateries all across the country to help raise interest in the world of eating challenges . I thought that I could eat , but I ’ ve got nothing on Randy . He brings to the table a very impressive record of 1172 world eating records and has 74 eating challenge records in Australia .
He has now taken on every state and territory ’ s best food challenges in Australia , and even took on two of the best in the Hills District . These were the Fire and Brimstone ’ s Australian BBQ Challenge 1151 , and the Big Slice Pizza Challenge against James Webb JWebby Can Eat at George ’ s Gourmet Pizzeria in Bella Vista . You eat two one and half kg pizzas in 20 mins .
James Webb is Australia ’ s current number one eating champion , having taken the mantle from former number one Isaac Harding-Davis . These guys are absolute eating machines and are both friends of Randy and Katina .
I witnessed Randy take on the Fire and Brimstone challenge and also the Cali ’ s Burger stacked burger challenge . He demolished ten stack patties , cheese , loaded fries , seven jalapeno peppers and a strawberry Oreo milkshake . That was win number 1145 in Australia .
Randy got into the world of eating challenges back in 2010 when he participated in a National Body Transformation challenge . Spartacus sponsored the challenge , and you had 12 weeks to do the best body transformation that you could . Randy won the competition and got a role as a gladiator in Spartacus . He travelled to New Zealand and met the All Blacks at the same time . He lost a lot of weight for the challenge .
When he returned to the US , Randy and a friend did their first food challenge . It was a 28-inch pizza challenge in St Louis , Missouri . It comprised of a five kg pizza , two meat toppings and $ 500 winnings . His next challenge was an 18-inch square pizza challenge and he won $ 450 and that roped him into the professional eating circuit .
Randy told me that the best place in the world for food challenges is India . They have a huge variety of food , but most food challenges these days are American based . He prepares for a food challenge , which he does every other day .

It stretches his stomach and helps him eat more food the next day . Randy avoids eating heavy and drinking beer in between days to be ready for the challenges .
When he first started out , he would eat five to six kg of watermelon every second day and has steered clear of the five kg of lettuce and salads that some people eat . He has never eaten anything weird like bugs and loves conventional food .

KING OF SPARTA indicated he was spot on for a solid Brisbane campaign with slashing narrow win over 1050m at Randwick on April 18 . Loves it up north .
TRAGARA was most impressive in finishing second to King of Sparta in the Randwick trial . The 3YO filly showed abundant speed and wasn ’ t asked to do much down the running .
CHEVRON might just be a smokey when he resumes from a spell . Finished last of nine runners ( R ’ wick , April 18 ), beaten just over two lengths but whereas all those in front were pushed out , he just cruised to the line . HULM is a strapping 3YO out of the Snowden yard and was never out of second gear in running close third in 1050m trial at Randwick on April 18 .
KIN will be vastly improved by an easy 4th in 735m trial at Randwick on April 18 . Was never given much rein
your money . As they say in the classics , if you can ’ t beat ‘ em , eat ‘ em .
